Chappaquoit Island Residence

West Falmouth, MA

This 1989 shingled cottage is situated within a group of late 19th century cottages that are part of a summer colony whose origins trace back to one of Buzzards Bay's earliest fishing "camps". The project entailed an exhaustive renovation and an addition. The renovation involved a complete reconstruction of the exterior shell and all new interior finishes. To take advantage of the view of Buzzards Bay, the master suite was relocated to the third floor. An addition containing a garage, family room, and guest suite was connected to the main house by an open porch that wraps the first floor. Special care was taken to use materials that would have been in use at the time of the original construction.
