Bay View Residence

Osterville, MA

This family compound was built to bring three generations of family together in one of the oldest summer communities on Cape Cod. The house is sited on a bluff overlooking South Bay. The entry is centered on a brick courtyard with an axial view through the house of the bay. With the exception of the study, all rooms open to the view and most connect by a porch. The upper floors contain guest suites, social spaces, and an observation tower. Off the entry drive is a three-bedroom guest house and an outdoor room containing a pool, spa, outdoor kitchen, and lounge. The architecture is an adaptation of the shingle style with a nod to the regional vernacular of mixing in colonial revival detailing and elements.
